Hello, I have an OBJ file, I want to convert it into a STEP file. The current file is in mesh format. I uploaded it into fusion 360 and tried creating T Spline but it failed every time. I tried creating BREP, But converting into brep format I cant edit the mesh or do anything. I saw that reducing mesh size can make it to convert into T-spline. But I can't find any way to edit the mesh file. Pls, Help me to convert the file.error 1.JPG

Hi @asif.ahmed.cr7 ,

Fusion 360 is asking you to enable mesh workspace.

To enable it go to Your Name->Preferences->Preview Features and Enable "Mesh Workspace"

Then you should be able to see Mesh commands.

To Convert Mesh to BRep body, You need to be either inBase Feature(Video from 0:26 sec) or activate the Direct modelling(Video at 0:48 sec)

Edited: Just now saw your reply, saw you have already fixed enabled Mesh workspace

1. create Brep

2. File > Export > STEP

Can you Attach the original obj file here?

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

Hi @asif.ahmed.cr7 ,

You convert into BRep

  • In Fusion
    1. By Rightclick on Mesh body and Triangulate mesh.
    2. "Reduce" the mesh size from Mesh workspace
    3. Convert "Mesh to BRep"
    4. Mesh to Brep
  • In Fusion
    • By Rightclick on Mesh body and Triangulate mesh.
    • "Create Mesh Section"
    • From Mesh section create 2D sketch
    • Create solid body from extrude
    • Mesh Section & BRep
  • In Netfab & Fusion
    1. Convert Triangular Facets to Quad in Netfab
    2. Export as OBJ and Import the same file to Fusion 360
    3. Go to sculpt
    4. Convert Mesh to TSplines
    5. Attached: Part_Brep v1.f3d
