V.2.0.11680
____
NOTICE: By March 29, 2022, we will no longer be supporting macOS 10.14 Mojave. If you haven’t updated to a newer version of macOS yet, make sure you mark your calendars to do so by March 29, 2022 so that you can continue using Fusion 360 as a fully supported experience.
Usability
Improved: Recovery file backup and file retrieval
We renamed "Automatic backup interval" preference to "Automatic recovery backup interval(minutes)" and revised a more descriptive tooltip on hover to remove any ambiguity of what this option really does.
The Document Recovery dialog now also includes information on how to access recovery documents again by showing you the path of how to retrieve the dialog once closed. When you hover over a recovery file, you’ll also see a tooltip that shows you the folder location of that recovery file, along with the timestamp of when that file was last created.
Improved: Sheet Metal Rules selector is now a drop-down menu for New Sheet Metal Component and Create Flange commands
Improved: We added the missing “STL (ASCII)” format to the "3D Print" dialog
Improved: Mesh commands with slider style inputs now support user parameters as inputs
Improved: Show all bodies command can now toggle the visibility of Mesh bodies as well
Fixed:
- Originally reported by k.willemsen-4, mesh bodies now display in color on the web, after applying an appearance, or physical material, and sharing using a public link.
- We fixed an issue where Fusion 360 was preventing you from uploading files to a new folder (to be created during this workflow) via the Upload dialog on macOS machines.
- We also fixed an issue where the workspace drop-down menu did not stay open. Apparently it would inexplicably disappear after a second or so. Now it should stay open and behave correctly.
- A few of you using CFD and Moldflow in conjunction with Fusion 360 told us that Adviser, Synergy, and CFD launcher icons went missing in the Design workspace/Simplify environment toolbars. Sorry about that –they are now back and will automatically appear if you have those applications installed.
- Apparently Derived Joints were not highlighted in the timeline when you selected them from the browser. They are now correctly highlighted in the timeline.
- We fixed a bug that was preventing Italian and French users running Fusion 360 in their respective languages to access Preview Features.
Modeling
Improved! Measure command
We’re happy to report that you are able to use the Measure command and measure the total length of multiple lines at the same time. Thank you all for being patient with us!
Speaking of the Measure command, HughesTooling was trying to measure the distance between a circle and a circular edge and got an odd result that didn’t make much sense. We looked into this and got this sorted out.
simeonX24F9 mentioned in this thread that the default measure shows Radius values for complete circles. It would be nice if it could detect a complete circle and display the diameter. I agreed, so we made it so.
We also fixed an issue where the arrows indicating the measurement sometimes flew way off into the distance, completely not where you wanted to measure. Now the arrows work as they should.
Fixed:
- There were discrepancies in Moment of Inertia values where Fusion 360 would give different numbers depending on whether you used the overall part entity or the body entity in the browser. Regardless of what you use, the Moment of Inertia should be the same, and now it is.
- wtrujilloHRY3A told us about a copy-paste issue that had occurred when he was working between 2 different machines using derived parameters. He kept getting a “receive the error "this documents contains unresolved components ...." when he opened a design at home and was edited at work and vice versa. The bug was hiding within Copy-Paste code. This is now fixed as Fusion 360 will prevent you from getting into this state.
- There a number of Pattern on Path issues that we were finally able to resolve (odd behaviors, stalling, spacing distance), some of which have been lingering from a long time and some have been recent. We also fixed a bug that incorrectly changing the starting position of a pattern in Pattern On Path when you tried to edit the pattern. Now the starting point no longer changes when reselecting the pattern path.
- We fixed issue where the holes created with the Hole or Extrude command wasn’t turning Yellow or Red in the Timeline even though they should go into an error state when it no longer intersects a body that no longer exists.
- Reported by tookemtoni: we fixed a crash issue that was happening when you right-clicked on a group in the timeline.
- We fixed a crash issue that occurred when you tried to edit a revolute joint in the Drive Joint dialog.
- Reported by rudi4: we fixed a bug that was preventing you from selecting spherical or toroidal faces when you were in the Loft command.
- Reported by Kevin Ellingson: Apparently a partially modeled thread on a cylinder failed to recompute after you modified the cylinder for some weird reason. This is now fixed.
- Reported by matthewrjacobs: There was some confusion why the "Patch Type" UI with only “Trimmed” option available was shown after just switching to the Analysis tab and back. This should not have happened and the dropdown has only one choice in this workflow. Tab switching should not reveal new UI. This is now fixed.
- Reported by Careless_: If a sketch-based hole failed because you deleted the entire sketch, you should be able to fix it by selecting other sketch points. In this case, the command reverted back to At Point, and you were not able to change it to From Sketch. Now you can edit the hole feature and select other sketch points to repair the hole if the original sketch was deleted.
- We fixed an issue where the Operation dropdown for stitch appeared only if the selection resulted only in a solid body. This was confusing because when you stitched bunch of surfaces, a new component was created, and there was no option to change it. If the stitch operation results in a surface body, then the dropdown should now appear with the options "New Body" and "New Component".
- Originally reported by MatadorMotorsportsAero: The Push/pull dialo g showed "Radius" but entries incorrectly defined the Diameter instead when you tried to push / pull the face of a sphere. Now it correctly defines the Radius as shown.
- Reported by etfrench: the Revolve command failed to compute when he tried to use it to create a symmetric component. We discovered that a symmetric Revolve as “last remembered” did not work properly. This is now fixed.
- Reported by LiveLover: The OK button of Hole command dialog was disabled even when if the value of Thread depth was entirely valid. Sorry about that, this is now fixed.
- When editing a Fillet that was failing after a design change, the option "Remove selection set" was not completely resetting the selection. If the option was used, then it was impossible to select any new edges for defining a new selection. This is now fixed.
- Reported by mailNJU7B: In the process of separating a body into multiple bodies and trying to delete one of the separated ones, we discovered that if you used Delete Faces to delete the faces of that said body, Fusion 360 did not properly identify that body and would keep it around in the browser. This is now fixed.
Electronics Design
Improve Document Tab switching performance, scripts, and ULP execution
EAGLE users are used to the snappy performance in EAGLE, with Fusion 360 electronics, users have experienced a performance drop when executing scripts and ULP’s (User Language Programming). With this update scripts that would take as long as 30 minutes to run in Fusion 360 are now down to only a few minutes. With this improvement we are looking at a staggering 60-100x improvement in performance when executing ULP’s and scripts.
We also received reports from you indicating that the page refresh would take a long time while switching design space by selecting the tabs. You will no longer experience this extended wait time; our team of developers has improved the tab switching speed to an instant refresh.
Improved CAM Processor now includes an Image Processor
The CAM processor will now include an image processor section, and it will support BMP, JPG, and PNG output formats. This configurable section will now help you generate your design images for documentation or for making PCB prototypes when using Toner Transfer methods.
Improved: Additional Layers on footprint now appear on the Package Editor
The Fusion 360 library editor provides the capability to map or create packages with an innovative Package editor that includes IPC-7351 compliant component templates and more, making it extremely easy to build components for your design in a noticeably brief time. The Package editor is also used to Map existing 3D models to your footprints. The footprint appears in the package editor in the form of construction lines, initially only Pads and the component outline would appear. In this update, you now have the convenience of having the Milling Layer and Holes appear on the package workspace. Making it so much easier to align the 3D model to the footprint.
Fixed:
Using the CMD-RENUNBER ULP would cause a circular dependency error when pushing update to 3DPCB
There are instances that the name sequence for the parts is lost while adding and deleting components during the design process. The Renumber Component ULP will eliminate all the gap names available on your design. Some of you contacted us stating that after running this routine, an error would occur when pushing for a 3D model of your PCB. In this update, the team of developers found what was triggering this problem and fixed it.
Inputting negative values -2.5 or .5 point for component position is now working
Editing the properties position of a component on the PCB or Schematic editor did not allow inputting negative or solely decimal values. For this update, this has been fixed. Remember that moving assets in the PCB editor remain subject to the active violation mode. Therefore, your DRC setting will restrict the move if you have the Walkaround or Push & Shove environments enabled.
References are lost in assembly with 3D PCB
Fusion 360 provides an electronic design environment that is fully integrated with 3D modeling. By inserting the 3D model of the PCB in the mechanical design workspace of Fusion 360, the mechanical engineer can fine-tune placement or use components as reference for the enclosure. All changes made by the mechanical engineer to the 3DPCB will alert the PCB engineer of the changes ready to be adopted. We have fixed the user experience by updating the referenced points in the design workspace if the electronic parts are moved.
- Fusion 360 team library editor access
We received reports from users stating that members of a Fusion Team Hub would get a Permission Error while editing a shared library. Our team of developers located the problem and took care of it in this update. - No more saving corrupted files
We found that it was possible to save corrupted files which then led to bigger issues. Now Fusion 360 makes sure that the file gets saved correctly and informs the user if there is a problem that way, they can recover by going to the previous version of the file.

Generative Design
Improved: Generative Fluid Path Preview
- Cloud job price change from regular 33 CC to 0 CC
- To enable more experimentation by our customers, we have removed the cloud charges for Generative Fluid Path studies.
- Improvements in workflow
- To reduce confusion regarding assigning flow inlets and outlets, we have redesigned the setup dialog for this step and changed the description in the precheck.
Improved: results quality
The solver is progressing for this technical preview:
We have made changes which should eliminate “mushroom” volumes at the inlets and outlets. In too many cases, the outcomes would create extra volume at the inlets and outlets. This issue should be eliminated in this release. On the left is the result before…on the right is the new result. If you still see issues of volumes added to the inlets and outlets, please let us know.
Improved: Generative Structural Components and Obstacle and preserve interference handling
In this update, we have changed the way we handle interferences between obstacles and preserves to better prevent invalid setups from getting into the solver, and giving you bad results or failures. Now the pre-check will show the setup in an error state, rather than a warning as it has in the past. Don’t forget that interferences can easily be cleaned up using the Interference command in the Edit Model workspace.
Drawing
Improved: Prevent associative centerlines, center marks, patterns, or edge extensions to be accidentally moved
Similar to associative objects like dimensions and leaders, Fusion 360 now prevents you from accidentally drag-moving associative centerlines, center marks, patterns, or edge extensions. This should reduce the amount of unnecessary time spent on fixing your drawing, so you use your time wisely on more important tasks.
Fixed:
- We fixed a crash issue that was occurring when you changed the view style of certain view types on your drawing.
- We fixed a couple of crash issues related to changing the scale of your title block as well as editing your title block.
- Reported by mathewsU7XKV: If you Added new attribute 'Paper size' in the title block, checking the value for A4 and other sheets revealed that the Attribute value for the <Paper Size> for A4 sheets incorrectly added an extra space on the end to become "A4 ". Now that extra space has been removed.
- Reported by KneubaeckerS7UG4: A bug was preventing the drawings environment from finding the custom drawings templates he used daily. He had to go to the data panel everyday to locate it first in order for the drawings environment to recognize it. This is now fixed and you should be able to see the template when you create a drawing.
- Reported by realtorscb: Changing in-line thickness did not show the changes in canvas. Turns out that Display Lineweight was not working as we expected it to work. We got to the bottom of this and now this is fixed.
- Reported by Marceliiin : an INTERNAL ERROR : !dbentapi.cpp@741 : eNullObjectId error message popped up every time he tried to edit or create a Title Block in the Drawing workspace, after he closed the window. Sorry about all that gibberish – this is now fixed.
- There was an issue where if you tried to create a drawing from a previously save drawing template, Fusion 360 would throw an error. This is now fixed.
- Apparently dimensions were sometimes incorrectly repositioned off the drawing sheet when you updated the reference and measured a diameter in the section view. Now dimensions stay where you left them.
Manufacture
Improved 2D Profile - Allow zero length lead-outs with in-control cutter compensation
You can now disable the lead-out in 2D profile, when using ‘In Control’ cutter compensation. If the lead-out’s are not disabled, some machines can report CRC errors. This also allows for more comprehensive machine support, including AMADA Laser Cutting Machines.
Improved Contour Selections - Stock Body Filtering
Stock bodies created during nesting are set to Un-selectable. This should make it easier to perform face selection when programming nested parts. Note that the filtering requires the selection of ‘Include Stock’ when creating the Nest Study.
Improved Grooving - Second Compensation and reachable contour calculation
You can now set the compensation point on both sides of the tool, without relying on the thickness of the tool and the need to manually modify the code . This should give you greater flexibility, less scrap/rework in some cases, as well as reducing the chance for human error.
You can now also access areas which weren’t accessible before without modification.
