There are some files that are protected, such as all files in the Basic Training project, CAM Samples and other practice projects which are standard in Fusion 360.  Do you see an Open when you right click on the file? If so, open and Save As to your project folder, then you can Insert it into Current Design.  Attach a screen capture of the project, folder and file you are trying to insert.

@jhackney1972  I'm having the same problem.  New to Fusion 360.  I've uploaded an ipt file in another folder.  The preview looks correct, but when I try to insert it there is no option, see screenshot below.  If I choose Open that just brings up the file in a browser window.  Thanks.

What is your Fusion 360 license type?  Personal license types cannot import Inventor .ipt files.  Here is a link to the website showing the license types and their capabilities.  Scroll down to see the lists.

@greg9504 - what kind of license do you have?  A "personal" license does not include support for some translators, including ipt files.  See Fusion-360-Free-License-Changes for details.  But, if you are under a personal license, the ipt will not be converted to a Fusion design, and so cannot be inserted into a Fusion design

Ahh that's it.  I have the "Personal - Not for commercial use" license.  Thought that might be it.

Thanks.

SAME PROBLEM

I imported a STEP file and converted it to a Fusion Design.  Now I try to import it to a new design and I don't even have the option.   Is this another problem with the "personal use" license or a bug?

You say you have imported a STEP file into Fusion 360 and save the file.  This should be a .F3D file.  If so, you can insert this into any Fusion 360 file, that has been previously saved, using any license type.  If you still have issues, please attach your STEP file, you will have to zip it, and also your .F3D file and the forum users will try and help you out.

Hi, I have the same problem as Alberton.chris, I uploaded a stp file (from here: https://www.neutrik.com/en/product/nac3mpxxa ) into Fusion 360 (education license), but I'm unable to insert it into a design, the option is not there.
Here is my f3d file.
