I am a newbie on fusion, and my seniors gave me the task of recreating my laptop on fusion(hp pavilion gaming)

I tried to make the base as close to the real one as possible. However, I cannot mirror the heatsink covers toward the back of my laptop. making it again from scratch from the other side will consume too much time because it already took me a lot of time to figure out the first one
any suggestions or help  about how to do it or a better, faster way to make my laptop is much appreciated

Hi @tanmay6_mitmpl2022CJP2Y

Welcome to Fusion 360.

The issue here is that you have one whole body.

I can suggest two ways you can mirror the heatsink:

  • When creating a new extrude, try to make new bodies, not joining objects. Then after you have made a lot of those bodies, you can combine them into one and then mirroring. To mirror you need to create a midplane.

  • The other way would be to splitting the joint body that you already have with its own plane and reapeating the mirror function with the midplane:

P.S. To have the workspace more organized, please remember to create components and name them, for each specific part. Helps a lot in future when navigating and making changes. 😉

Good day @tanmay6_mitmpl2022CJP2Y,

Have you tried creating a mid-plane or offset-plane and using that for the mirror?
