Newbie...GBU Compatibility problems with this PC: Asus ROG Strix Hero Edition

Hi, hate to post this here but couldn't find a clear answer elsewhere. I'm currently in the process of acquiring a hobbyist license for fusion360, however my Apple imac's logic board died last wk, Im gonna have to buy a new PC in the next wk or so, strictly for use with Fusion 360 and maybe Rhino 3D. I've picked one>>the Asus ROG Strix Hero edition. However last night, while looking on the Fusion 360 group forum I found a couple threads regarding serious display problems from the graphics card used in this PC (specs below). I saw in one thread that Autodesk Support members were working on a solution but never saw any more replies from them about the fix.....long story short, I've seen the fusion PC compatibility support pages...understand all that fine however I really need to know if there is a known bug and a fix for it regarding the graphics card (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 4GB GDDR5) before I spend $1000+ on a PC that'll have problems running Fusion 360....please any assistance/help with this could really, really save me a lot of trouble,

ASUS ROG STRIX HERO EDITION (SPECS BELOW):
Intel Core i7-7700HQ Quad Core Processor
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 4GB GDDR5
16GB DDR4 RAM / 256GB SSD + 1TB HDD

Thank you

Hi @Anonymous,

There is a ton of it depends here. One helpful point, when quoting the forums on a specific issue its always best to post the link to that thread - especially if support/expert elites were involved. We post dozens of times a day and its easy for them to run together. Having that additional context and reading those threads is always helpful when answering questions.

As far as i know and have searched i do not see any active ongoing issues with a GTX 1050. some older issues that "could" be from the graphics card but not enough information to suggest the card itself is the problem. Searching any card will yield plenty of results - for example search "quadro" you'll find a similar quantity of results - as we tend to ask for that information. To be frank - 75% of the time when it IS a graphics card problem its the drivers. The other 25% is a mix of age/speed/performance.

The most important thing to watch out for is duel graphics cards - one integrated/Intel an the other an Nvidia card. Windows is notoriously bad at switching assigning the right GPU and the problem exists in our software and many video games.

No worries or need to apologize. It looks like in that thread switching to DX9 fixed it for the original guy. Any computer could have issues. Its a risk with all of them, if you worried about using Fusion with that card then get a different computer and card.

Fusion should work and likely will work with that card without issues. But its up to you to make that call.

Thanks Ryan,
While I'm thinking about it, let me ask one more question: as I said my iMac died on me, tho probably gonna get a PC laptop, I'm also considering a MacBook Pro (2016). I understand there are limitations/differences to using Fusion 360 on a Mac, is there a link to a description of these differences? I know it's hard to say but on average do you see a lot of Mac users having problems with Fusion 360? I know it's vague but I'd appreciate any input there, thx so much

If there are differences and limitations i'm not aware of them - aside from Generative design which is only for Windows right now. I use Fusion on three PC's, a Win 7, Win10 and a Mac. Personally i prefer the Mac for a variety of reasons - mainly the display quality and sharpness and its very consistent.

I'm not a Mac or PC guy. I've owned and use both regularly and with Fusion with both and its very seamless. It was designed and is developed to be this way.
