New update won't work on older Mac's

You can’t use this version of the application “Autodesk Fusion 360.app” with this version of macOS. Is displayed when I try to open Fusion 360

Sadly I have an older mac that can't upgrade to Mojave so I need to downgrade to the last update. You're going to force a lot of people elsewhere with this as no one wants to throw a perfectly good £2000 mac away to invest in a newer £3000 just to run Fusion.

I need to be able to backtrack to an earlier version and turn off automatic updates. This is ridiculous. I bet people are sat twiddling their thumbs losing money and time all over with this. Stop automatic upgrades that cause things to break!

Running OS 13.something. Requirements says it should work but the icon was greyed out this morning and that error displayed

Uninstalled and re-installed and works fine.

What a waste of my time and reminds me of Window's rather than mac!

Hi Julian,

Sorry that you had to uninstall to get Fusion working on your 10.13 OSX. If you provide your log files we can take a look at what happened.

On a separate note I do want to add that from the update that went live couple of days back we will not be supporting 10.12 OSX any more. We will let you continue using the current Fusion you may have installed but live update and new updates will not work. There are many reasons why we have to do this but one primary reason is that we need to use tools that Apple provides to build Fusion for the Mac. Apple does stop support for those tools for various versions and that means that we cannot support those OSX versions. There are other dependencies that restricts us from providing support for older Macs/ older OSX but the tools we use to build is one of the important ones.

Yeah I just started having this exact same issue today. I'm running 10.13.6 though. If you only removed support for 10.12 then why am I having this issue????

Here's a picture of what it looks like in my dock.

Here's what happens when I click on the dock icon.

Here are my system specs.

What do you propose I do to fix this issue? I really need to be able to run Fusion.

thanks.

Ok some new information here. Not sure exactly what this means though. At least I was able to open Fusion again.

FIRST OFF:

I right clicked on the icon in my dock and chose "show in finder"

I was sent to this folder path "Home -> Library -> Application Support -> Autodesk -> webdeploy -> production"

Apparently that is where the "Autodesk Fusion 360" shortcut in my dock is actually located.

NEXT IDEA:

I decided to look in my Applications folder to see where Fusion was in case I could find something useful there and guess what I CAN open Fusion 360 from my Applications folder. It seems as though a new version of Fusion 360 was installed yesterday somehow in my applications folder. I did not actively do this though. Not sure how it got there.

Here's a screenshot of the folder and the app version number (2.0.7805)

Screen Shot 2020-03-11 at 5.47.10 PM.png

Maybe this helps I don't know.

It seems weird that this version is in the Applications folder of my root user's home directory and not the "Macintosh HD -> Applications" folder where everything else is.

It's the same issue here. macOS 10.13.6 running on a Mac Pro with 2 x 6-Core Xeon and 96 GB RAM.

I did:

- Run the "Remove Fusion360"

- Download newest installer

- Install Fusion360

That did the trick. It's back alive.

Greetings,

Same thing happened to me. After the update Fusion 360 wouldn't load from the icon on the dock. I found Fusion 360 in Applications and started it from there. No problem, it started up then I pinned the icon to the dock. All is right with the world, well, sort of.

Good luck.

Thanks, @voxpipes !!!  I don't know if you wear a cape, but you are a hero.

To repeat their answer: Try using the copy of the "Autodesk Fusion 360" app that appears in your root user's home directory (/Users/[yourUserName]/Applications/), not the "Macintosh HD -> Applications" folder where everything else is.

I'm not sure how long it'll work, but it works for now on my Late 2013 Retina 15-inch, running macOS 10.13.6.
