Since the update where the text function got overhauled I have lost the ability to add text. Text on path works but normal text doesn't. I can select the first corner of the text box, then the second corner, then I have a rectangle but I can't enter text anywhere (see attachment). When I click again I'm asked to select the first corner again however the previous unfinished text box still sits there. After a few attempts I have little plus signs all over the screen but no text. I have seen similar issues in the forum a month or so back but no progress or resolution. This is very urgent for me as I need to extrude text on many of the parts I design and having to use the text on path as a workaround is not ideal.
The exact same thing has happened to me. I was thinking of starting a post myself but you described the exact issue I'm running into as well. I hope this gets solved quickly.
@ktmrideorange I spoke to the Fusion 360 team and we discovered that the problem is related to my external screen. Are you perhaps also using one? When I use Fusion on my laptop screen the text function works fine but when I move it to my external screen the problem occurs. The dev team have now been informed. So for now, until the problem is solved I'll do text on my laptop screen. Interestingly, once the text is created on my laptop screen I can edit and manipulate it on the external screen without issues.
@martin.wiesner Thank you for the update! I tried it on my laptop screen and it fixed the situation as well. I can't believe that is what caused this confusion lol. I just started using a secondary monitor the same day the update came out so of course it was the update haha. Glad to see this isn't broke.
Actually, there is a trick for this problem. First, you should draw a line where you want to create the text and then choose text on path from text dialogue. It would solve this text problem until we get a fixed solution.
that's strange ... my external monitor is wacom cintiq 16 and it works good on text on path. It is definitely video card problem. Have you tried to change video card setting, such as 3d rendering or acceleration, etc. ...?
