It seems that the new fillet is a bit laggy and needs some polish, and when i try to select an edge i select a face, so could you guys polish the new fillet tool, and add a feature which you can choose between an edge, a face, and a point

the new fillet feature also lacks now the ability to grab a hidden edge , which was possible before

Yea, it's somehow even more of a hassle to work with than it was before. I work with symmetries a lot, so I need to refine selections easily to keep mirror surface edges unfilleted. Now in addition to deselecting edges I need to deselect faces.
Would be cool if there was a a tickbox or dropdown option to select only edges or faces or both.

And all of these changes, and still no option to loop or ring edge selection, which is a basic feature of most 3d modeling applications.

I am no longer able to select hidden edges, Is that feature going to be restored?

1. Edge Loop selection is a feature in many Sub-D modeling applications but not in CAD applications. One of the differences is that Sub-D modelers work with quad meshes for the edge loop selection to work. CAD applications work with analytical or NURBS BRep surfaces. That is technically completely different.

2. Fusion 360 is a CAD application, not a 3D modeling application. 3D modeling is part of it, but the end goal is to provide data/information so a physical artifact can be manufactured. That in itself drives modeling decisions and is something you don't have to worry about when just modeling.

Hey @Anonymous,
I'm sorry to hear that you are encountering lag with the new Fillet command.
It would be helpful if you could share workflows/models for us to investigate and reproduce the problem at our end.

Guys, you can still select hidden edges or disable face selection. While in the command, you can make changes in the Selection Filter/Selection Priority dropdown to allow the selection of the hidden edge. Please refer to the similar reply here.

Great! Happy to see the select edge tool is still here, is there a way to make select edges default?

@jake.nicholson6VZ9D
Unfortunately there is no way right now to set edge selection as default. Sorry about that.

The development team has identified this issue and we are working towards finding a solution for this.

Looks like with the latest updates the fillet tool now has default edge selection again.

Sometimes, when a model has complex fillet many edges, slight adjustments to arbitrary related parts can easily upset the fillet and invalidate it. Identifying the particular problematic edge(s) can be very time consuming and difficult. Would it be possible to add a feature to Fusion 360 to identify (or at least attempt to) those problematic edges for us and highlight them? Or would it be too complex to do so?

Thanks,

Mike

For anyone who is interested in this idea, there is already a Future Consideration post for exactly this feature:

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-ideastation/show-visually-where-fillets-and-shells-fail/id...

Vote for it if you want this feature to be implemented.
