Mystery Selection Box PLEASE HELP

Recently this box appeared apparently to help select. But it slows me down. How do I disable it?Box.png

That box should only appear if you are hovering over multiple items and "hold down" your left mouse button.  If you simply left click, it will not appear.

That is a "Select Other" dialog that allows you to cycle through close together elements to pick the one that you actually want.

Thanks everyone for answering.

 

Think of this as the "xray vision" of your mouse. If you press the LMB down while the mouse is on top of things, it invokes what is called "Select Other", which provides a list of entities under your mouse at the moment. You can use this list to select things.

 

For instance, you might want to mirror across the origin plane, but it is inside the part. When it is time to select the mirror plane, you would hold the mouse button down and use the list to pick the plane, instead of the other faces that are "in the way".

 

If you aren't holding down the LMB to get Select Other to pop up, please let us know.
