Moving From Education to Personal Question

Hi

My Education License expires in a few weeks. Do I have to start from scratch to then get a 2022 personal license? Can someone clarify how many items I can have in the database with the personal license? It says '10' but is that just 10 designs of any size? I tend to make small things from small parts so only having access to 10 at a time could be an irritating limitation!

Thanks

Louise

Hi @louisewilliams515 ,

No you do not need to start from scratch! Once it expires, you can sign up for the Personal license and have access to all of your data. The large difference is that the Personal license does have limitations that the EDU license does not - such as the 10 Active documents limit. All this means is that at one time only 10 documents can be 'editable', the rest are put into read-only mode. You can always flip which documents are editable vs read-only.

Thanks,

Oh, ok - thanks. Just to be clear: '10 documents' means 10 x .f3d design files rather than projects? I have hundreds at the moment though I'm likely to only refer to some of them at a time, and sequentially - not likely even several at once.

@louisewilliams515 ,

That is correct, design files. Not projects. Then yes, if you are only using several at once, then it is perfect. When you want to work on other designs you just need to switch which ones are read-only vs editable.

Thanks for the info! My Edu licence expires this week but hopefully things will go smoothly! I've managed to backup most of my files so feeling more secure now 🙂
Cheers

Hi,

I successfully went through the process a few days ago.

Even though there are many hints, I made a short compilation of screenshots here.
