I inserted a machine screw from McMaster into a design.
I rotated the part 180 degrees around X to point it downwards, and moved it up a bit from the center-of-the model, so it's easier to work with. (There was no "capture position" option here, btw.)
Now, I open the move dialog, and move point-to-point, selecting the bottom of the screw head and the top of the screw hole I want to align it with.
The preview looks exactly like I want it.
Then I OK the dialog, and the part actually moves to a totally different position!
I pasted a screen capture of what I'm doing -- how do I make it commit to the correct previewed position when I select "OK"?
I would post the f3z archive, but "export to f3z" has been running for three minutes now and is about 4% along.
That's a separate problem, though -- I just want the screw to stick where I put it!

You are better off using the joint command to move and position stuff as it only adds one action to the timeline and it can be edited without adding more to the timeline as many times as you want.

the one thing I noticed from your video is: you are moving the body, not the component. That will just move the body within the component's transform. Still not sure why you get the results you do, but I think you want to move the component.
That said, I completely agree with @daniel_lyall - use Joints for this instead of Move.

What part of "I would post the f3z archive, but "export to f3z" has been running for three minutes now and is about 4% along." was unclear?
Is there a way to get the f3z archive creation to finish in reasonable time? This is not a complex project/part.

Hi,
try this:
break link of imported assemblies and export as f3d instead of f3z
