Why am I have problems with anything associated with fusion 360 even the post you cant download a screen shot and then add text???

Why cant I move the tread in the screenshot. I want to use rectangular pattern to create a the stairs, but the rec.patern box comes up and when I try to select the tread nothing happens I cant even move and copy Screenshot (16).png the tread. When I go into selection filters it keeps on unchecking when I have checked select all???

You are editing a sketch, and trying to select a body.

You either select the sketch Profile, and a line for direction,

But more likely you need to pattern the body, after the sketch is closed.

Adding caption to a photo only appears after the Done button is pressed.

Might help....

So are you saying I must finish sketch and then move the body.

You can use a Rectangular pattern in a sketch.

You can use a different Rectangular pattern in modelling area. Bodies or components.

You look to be trying to copy a body with the sketch still open,

so neither will work like that.

Hi,

Please share the file and name the parts or features involved

File > export > save as f3d on local drive  > attach it to the next post

In that case isnt it easier to delete the extrude and select the profile of the tread replicate it  and then extrude all the treads, but I must mirror the tread because of the shape of it, there is a left and right. That is something else that was not working when I mirror the it it joins them even though I select new body.

Nooo...

If I have the situation right, you want to make a set of stair treads.  Pattern or (mirror or) similar of a sketch will immediately convert the sketch to a 3d sketch, and then, most tools are unreliable or unavailable.

Pattern the body or Component, with Rectangular or on Path - in the Modelling Create menu.

Mention of a mirrored one, so be it,

but I can't see how the sketch version will work at all.

Ok I got it thus far as in the screenshot, but those treads are all over the place and incorrectly spaced they got to be moved into alignment and spaced correctly and actually, I might change the angle as well, represented by the dotted line. Then select them all extrude them. What I really need to do is find a youtube on what can or cant be done ie move/copy etc.

When I attach a screenshot I cant find a place to add text, so I add text first then click on the camera icon to add a picture.

Hi,

Please describe how you want your staircase to look in the end. The alternately mirrored step profiles are now visible. What about the distances?
If they are not to be identical, say how.
Then you could proceed with a different strategy.

Hi,

Create a screenshot with a snipping tool and edit it by adding the text and icons you want.

Are you on a Mac or Windows OS?  An image file is not editable 3D geometry.

But your screenshot does show a rather large number of unresolved issues highlighted in yellow in your Timeline.  Once you figure out how to Attach your Fusion *.f3d file here - these unresolved issues can be diagnosed.

Yes eventually figured it out as a screencast and it made sense now I must
try it, but every time I watch and see and then try it something
dosent work, but the professional always makes it look easy.
