Modifying a Thingiverse .stl file

I'm a newbie and I have watched beginner videos but some are not in clear, larger resolution so it's challenging even viewing the words on screen (even for co-workers with 20/20 in their '20s). I wanted to "remove" a part of that Thingiverse file and possibly make it wider and longer.

Would anyone pls share the steps (in text form) or a video which displays all the words and graphics clearly in easily readable font size?

I'd be so grateful for your kind help.

This is such a simple object, It takes all but 5 minutes to re-crate this from scratch.

I recommend watching this LiveStream I made awhile back.  I show how you can take a thingiverse stl and "convert" it to a solid model, which you can then edit.
