Missing selection when altering Extrusion - Flickering sketch when trying to extrude - Some parts impossible to select.

Problem Nr.1: I want to alter an extrusion, but the previous extruded form gets messed up (3/4 of selected area suddenly deselected) when clicking "edit", forcing to re-select. Why is this happening (see pictures)

Problem Nr.2: Impossible to select certain parts of sketch for extrusion as when trying to select, instead of turning blue - they flicker like crazy. On some areas it will not even turn blue, so I'm unable to extrude them. Some selections randomly trigger errors. Not the first time having the problem.

Any idea..? This is so frustrating...!

Please attach your model and indicate clearly what you are trying to edit in the extrusion.  If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 model follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save as a F3D or F3Z file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section, of a forum post, to attach it.

After 30min of stressful attempts to select all necessary fields with the help of one cold beer, I eventually made it...

Therefore I can not (and don't want to) recreate problem Nr.1.

Though the flickering still remains...

When moving the timeline until extrusion Nr. 5 you can experience this problem when trying to select or deselect areas of the sketch for extrusion. Some flicker and will eventually select, other areas will not (until going beyond patience)

Especially the smaller long/sharpy parts on both sides will try to resist selection.

I have done this about 30 time now and apparently the more I do so, the less problems im getting when trying to select. But its not the first time neither the first model giving me such headache.

Although I do not see the difficulty in selection, as you seem to indicate, I do have a suggestion to help make your selection process easier.  The video will explain.

Hey John,

i really appreciate the quick and personal response, though I can not understand why you don't seem to have this issues. I just made a Video to showcase my scenario and as you can see, I'm really having a really hard time selecting as the flickering is pretty severe and its sometimes almost impossible to select a certain area as it will not change into the needed selection-mode or extrude into some weird directions.

It's a very strange behavior I'm encountering very often.

I run a water-cooled Intel I7 7700K with 16GB 3200MB Ram and a RTX2060.

My systems runs on max. 10% of its capacity, so I'm really not sure what could cause this.

I have even set up a new Windows some weeks ago and the problem persists.

PD: I didn't change the lines into construction-lines, as I previously needed them, but then altered the design.

I could have changed them, yes.. but as you may see, it wouldn't have made big of a difference...

Thank you very much for checking my design. It makes clear that the problem is on my side.

Where..? I don't really know... Hopefully someone has an answer.

Maybe Nvidia is the troublemaker..  its only a guess, but sadly I have no other GPU to test.

edit: Unfortunately the video has no sound and I can't figure out why its not recording the clicks of my mouse, but anyways I hope you see the problem and my struggle 😕

With best regards

In the video, you are trying to select the sketch areas "through the model".  This is going to be problematic.  In my video, I was only selecting the sketch areas "from the actual sketch".  The blinking you are seeing is the model body being selected so it is very hard to tell when the sketch area is selected.  I agree you will have to use this method if you want to deselect or select an area after the body is created but try to avoid this setup if you can.

Another idea is to try some different settings in your preferences.  I run a NVIDIA card as well and I find the OpenGL setting works best for me.  Remember, you will be prompted to restart Fusion 360 if you change this setting so save first.
