Mirror plane obscures body runing reorientation. How do you correct this?

I have a simple part that is mirrored about the xy plane, great. However the xy plane is now a dark grey and obscures the mirrored part, see attachment. The presence of the dark xy plane is horrible, it goes ragged when zoomed and obscures detail. Can the transparency of this "plane shading" be increased to make it (more) transparent?

Many Thanks.

Guenther,

I redesigned my part by extruding on the top part of the xy plane (pisitive z) and then mirrored the part. When put in the assembly there is no problem with the morror plane. Infact what I am seeing is the xy plane greyed out?!

Is this normal behaviour? It is not good having part of the design obscured.

Thank you for sharing the design.  However, when I upload this design, I do not see the gray box in your document.  Here is what is in your document:

but, opening the design named "Structure", I do not see this:

nor in the upper level assembly:

You mentioned that you did some redesign - did the problem go away for you?  If not, can you record a video showing the steps to re-create it, on this design?  Thanks.

@jeff_strater Appologies for late reply. I am wondering if I have inadvertently  activated or deactivaed a setting that shades the xy plane. On all my designs the xy plane is shaded. What are your thoughts. I am soldiering on with the system as is but it is not really acceptable, as I rotate any object in space  parts get obscured. Should I reinstall the software. Any help greatfully (and urgently received).

Hi, I decided to create a scrren cast to show this issue, hope someone can help. Here is the link https://autode.sk/37snyr0 . As stated, the issue is the way the plane shading obscures desing features as you zoom out. Surely this shading can be turned on - off? If so how?

Hi, I have found the problem. The settings for the grid dimension was very small so as you scroll out more and more lines are adding, obscuring the components below the plane.

This can be fixed by using the grid icon at the bottom of the screen and unchecking "layout grid". This turns of the xy plan grid.

Alternatively resize the grid spacing to a more appropriate value.

Thanks
