Midpoint constraint not working

I drew the vertical line by hovering over the midpoint of the horizontal line and sketching upwards. I then added the perpendicular constraint manually. Then I click-dragged the vertical line to the left.  Clearly this should have been constrained by the midpoint constraint.

Can someone explain please?

Here is a demonstration. A possible hint is that it only occurs in this sketch. I tried to open a new sketch but the constraint was respected. Perhaps that is a hint?

almost certainly is data specific.  Can you share the design here so we can take a look?  Thanks.

I can but the file might be pretty big. How do I share the file? (is there a best file type)

I assumed a Fusion archive is best.

Thanks for the file.  Yes, it is very large.  Really painful to deal with, even to open.  What do you plan to do with this design?  I don't think it will be very useful in this state.  There are a LOT of bodies here, and I suspect that is the source of all the slowness.  I deleted all the bodies (which took a VERY long time), so I could just focus on the sketch.  As this is a Direct Modeling design, I don't think that should affect the sketch.

Anyway, to the sketch, I'm curious about how that midpoint was applied.  I found that if I delete the midpoint, and re-add it, it works OK.  Did you use a different workflow than I did to apply the midpoint?

further, I found that anything that causes the sketch to solve (like creating a new constraint to the horizontal line) will make the midpoint work:

I deleted the midpoint constraint and re-added it just like you did. However, I could still move the line and make it not respect the constraint.

I found the same thing you did as I continued to work. I added some other features and the midpoint was restored. Very strange behavior.

If you have some thoughts on how to simplify the huge number of bodies, I'm all ears. This is an imported step model from Altium designer and for me will be a nominal workflow.  Is there some way to modify the import to create a single component/body?  I still need to reference features to locate mounting holes and connector locations.
