Middle button (Anker Vertical Mouse) won't pan (Mac)

I am using a Mac M1 with an Anker Vertical Mouse and the Pan function will not activate when I press the scroll wheel. It zooms just fine and if I shift press it will orbit. When I press the wheel instead of getting the hand with all fingers extended, I get the same hand with just the index finger extended. This activates a dialogue with different Mac apps that I can choose from. I have looked extensively in both apple settings and in Fusion as well as perhaps half of the internet. Super hard to work in Fusion if you have to keep going and grabbing tools all the time.

Hi @evcomaine,

  • Do you have any other mice you can try and reproduce this with?
  • Does it happen with the same mouse on other devices?
  • Did the mouse come with any software to install for e.g. rebinding buttons?
  • Does macOS recognize the device as a mouse, or perhaps something different like a keyboard or other input device?
  • Could you please provide a screenshot of the other dialog that appears on the other display?

While I have not experienced this specific mouse, I do have one that does not behave properly in macOS because of the presence of an in-built Windows/Super key, which causes macOS to not know what input standards to apply to each button. It's possible the Anker firmware isn't following Human Interface Device standards, though their website does say it should be compatible with Macs. It also notes that the next/previous thumb buttons are not recognized by macOS - can you confirm that these do not do anything? If they do have a function, that could be a clue that the mouse is not being recognized correctly by the OS.
