Meshing stops at 80% and fail

Hi Forum,

I have been having problem with meshing a small bracket. I have tried simplifying features and meshing settings and meshing would stop at 80% before the error message pops up.

There are following warnings, but suggested fix seem to have no effect.

*****************************************************

Warning: Warning: Visibility is turned off for some Bodies or Components. Hidden Bodies and Components will still participate in the Simulation Solve. To exclude Bodies and Components from the Simulation Solve, use the "Remove" tool in Simplify workspace.
Warning: Warning: Model contains 27 fully unconstrained group(s) in load case "Load Case1".
Click here to select 'DOF View' to inspect.
Click here to select 'Manual Contact'.
Click here to select 'Automatic Contacts'.

Anybody knows what causes this?

Thanks,

YK

You have only hidden other bodies and not removed them. As warning states "Hidden Bodies and Components will still participate in the Simulation", so poor computer was trying to mesh, add contacts between and solve ALL BODIES in your design. You can use Remove All Except Selected to remove other bodies altogether (first unhide everything):

With just this body left you don't even need further simplification:

By the way, your model is heavy and navigating it takes time and computer resource. I think better option is to Derive this body alone into a new empty file and do the simulation there.

Hi Hamid,

Thank you for the suggestions. Unfortunatelly, the 80% meshing problem seems to persist after removing other bodies by selecting Remove All Except Selected option.  I am going to try isolating the body alone into a new empty file and run the simulation there. Hopefully, it will resolve the problem.  I will keep you poste.

Did you try my file that I attached to my previous reply? In that file I can mesh and solve without a problem. If you have problem with that file something might be wrong about your Fusion installation. Also did you confirm that no other body exists in your simulation model except for this one after your used Remove All Except Selected command? I guess if you do it when other bodies are hidden it won't work. That's why I mentioned "first unhide everything".

Hi Hamid,

With your file, I can also mesh and solve without a problem. I am not sure but this may indicate there less likely that installation is causing the meshing issue.  Like your file, there is only relevant body shown after removing other bodies by selecting Remove All Except Selected option.

However, there are still same warning messages.

At this point, it seems to be a better option to start from a scratch. Please let me know if you agree.

I am almost sure you did not unhide everything before Remove All Except Selected; In your Browser other components are still hidden and the warning still telling you "Visibility is turned off for some Bodies or Components".  It even reports the number of unconstrained groups (27). As I mentioned previously you should first unhide EVERYTHING.

I made a screencast of what I did on your fresh model. Please take a look and follow my steps. One thing I note is I first deleted your simulation because I was afraid it may contain references to unremoved bodies (e.g. in Contacts).
