I am a maker and use Fusion for all of my 3D modeling. I've grown to love and appreciate Fusion 360's features and UI. While I have used other 3d CAD and modeling software (such as Blender, Sketchup, Solidworks, etc.), I much prefer Fusion 360-- it provides the perfect blend of functionality for the kind of projects I work on.
The recent announcement had me concerned about whether or not I'd have access to Fusion 360. I immediately checked the price for a license - $495/year. (I know it's on special for $297, but that is labelled as a limited time offer.) For what I do, I just can't justify paying $41 a month for Fusion 360. With further reading, I was pleased to discover that the coming limitations really won't prevent my usage of Fusion under the personal use license. So things are great, right?
But this all got me thinking. I am a software developer by profession and I believe in contributing to the products that I rely on. While I can't justify a $41/month subscription for my maker usage, I would be willing (and even interested in) buying a "Maker subscription" for something closer to $10 a month. I don't know what additional features I'd suggest adding to the personal license (maybe more active document slots?)-- that really isn't the point. A lower cost subscription is really just a way for those of us, who use and appreciate Fusion 360, to give back.
