Machine Configuration, what is Spindle axis vector muct not be set to zero

Hello,

I've search Google and can not find this information, what is spindle orientation in Machine Configuration and why does it need to be set to something besides zero.

Please educate me on what this is,

One of the axis must be set to 1 to indicate the primary axis of the spindle of the machine. In a lot of milling machines, the Z is set to one.
