one of the most, if not the most infuriating, cad programs I have ever used. Very non intuitive. Having been working on a file all morning on my Mac (Big Sur), I go back to it in the afternoon and get this:

I have had this a number of times in the last couple of days,  but just started a new project and continued from there, now I get this every time.

how can I get in to this without having to go to the severely underpowered surface pro?

Hi,

Can you please collect your diagnostic log files (Help > Support and Diagnostics > Diagnostic log files)?

What do you do to make that message appear?

I ask because there has not been a Fusion 360 app store product for several years. Did you download that version when it was available? Is it still on your machine?

I am using the version that Autodesk site lets me download, not the Mac store app as that directed me to log into my account and download from there.

to make the message appear, I clicked on the file in my data pane after uploading to the project. it was working on this Mac for several days before so I don't know why I am now getting that message

log files attached:

NM, got it figured after trying to reinstall, I was using the old one. after deleting app from /applications, couldn't figure out why it kept telling me it was already installed. turns out the installer puts the app in my user folder, did not expect that. I'm going to try to move it to /applications. I do not want it in my user folder at all - and the installer should not put it there. Thanks for trying to help 🙂

You might find Fusion doesn't work when you move it. The installation location for Fusion 360 is unconventional but only because it is required for Fusion 360 to function.
