Hi,

I am running 10.10.5 (Yosemite) on a macbook  Air.

I am unable to upgrade to Mac OS 10.11.

What will happen when you issue an automatic update that my computer will not support?

will it screw up Fusion360.

You will receive an error message that the operating system is no longer supported. Fusion 360 will not run since it must be up to date to connect to the cloud services.

I'm not sure why you're unable to upgrade the OS, but I understand that some other user's have partitioned their hard drives and installed a newer version of the OS as a solution. A virtual machine may be another possible solution.

I hope that helps.

Thanks,

I don't believe Fusion 360 will run on an unsupported operating system at all. Plus Fusion does require you to connect online regularly, which it won't do if the software is outdated. Does that help to clarify?

Thanks to OP, and Autodesk support, for this thread.

Just downloaded Fusion 360 trial.  Was planning to test with a MacBookAir (new) rather than my Mac Pro (ancient).  Glad that I didn't jump the gun.

FWIW:  Tried the last couple Mac OS releases, but rolled back to 10.10.5 in both cases.  Apple dropped the ball with El Capitan and have yet to recover, IMO.  Being forced to use Windows with increasing regularity, and don't have time to navigate Linux releases.  Desperately holding out for a stable Mac OS.

Sad to see.

I bought a PC so I could use Creo and AutoDesk. The problem is that when I had a MAC, I never had an issue except with the Microsoft 360 account. They "updated" Word and completely downgraded the equation tool to the point that I lost a lot of my work and could no longer create all the wonderful color coded equations I used to be able to make.  So I have this new PC ASUS laptop and have had several issues with it since day one. I should have returned it. There was an up date and since then my Autocad Fusion crashes right after it opens. I hate having a PC but worry that if I switch back to just having a MAC, I will only be able to use Autocad and not Creo as well. Also, I'm not willing to go through extra trouble to create a partition just because there is an update that makes this not work with my computer. Seriously, updates should make your life easier, not way harder.

This was Extremely unhelpful. Some people can't afford to get a new computer because of an update. Maybe I just don't need the update. Maybe my ISP isn't the greatest so I don't want to work on a cloud. All of this to prevent pirating, which doesn't work. I'm getting narrowed into a corner because I don't want to spend more money on something I don't need. I have a duo core laptop with a basic video card and solid state drives. It runs 20 tabs in mozilla just fine. Those including sites like youtube, thangs, thiniverse, grab cad, news sites and tinkercad. I'm not adding to the worlds issue of garbage and unnecessary addiction to crap they don't need. I have been doing 3d modeling for more than 20 years and I've gone to school for computer engineering. Recommending me to install a virtual drive, that's ridiculous.   So whats left? Does autodesk supply older versions of 360 if I pay for the subscription, or do i give them a chunk of cash and then buy a whole new computer, wait i can't afford a new mac, so i guess i have to go pc. wait now I have to get used to a completely different UI and migrate all my work. Or, i can just download a torrent of an older working version. LOL you're really not leaving much option for older experienced users. I want to play by your rules but you're making it really hard and I want to get back to my work.
