Lost "project to surface" Function

I'm not sure when this happened exactly, but I've lost a command that I rather like.

I use the Project to Surface function pretty often when matching a sheet metal part to another bent/formed sheet metal part that needs to fit well to the profile.

A workaround for that function takes SO long. 20 minutes of work to accomplish what could be a 30 second job.

Was there a name change or something?

Am I dumb and just missing it?

Are you projecting from one sketch to another? You can not project curves in the current active sketch into the same sketch. Is that the problem?

I have 2 sheet metal parts, both with multiple bends and on different planes.

Typically I would take part A and project its edge  profile to the surface of part B so I can trim away what I don't need and have a good fit up after laser and press work.

Sorry if that doesn't make sense.

I don't always do things the easy or right way, self taught and only use the sheet metal functions of Fusion.

Strange, found it now. I used to be able to be able to select "project to surface" THEN select the face to project to.

Thanks!

That's an old workflow where the sketch tab used to be visible all the time, now you need to start a sketch first.

You could get a similar workflow back if you create a shortcut for project to surface. If you click the 3 dots on a menu item you can add a shortcut and this will work even if you're not in sketch mode. So I can press Shift+P and get prompted to select a face or plane.
