I have a completed project. I need to add a new part(body or Component) to the exisiting sheet metal project. This new part needs the exisiting part to line up holes and dim. How do i build a part on top of the exisiting design so i can utilize it's gemonitry. I.E. I have a box and need to add a bracket inside the box to support mounting hardware.

New component,

make the body in place.

drill / Extrude the same holes, again.

Original sketches can work across components, but need your file to sort anything further out.

Post the video here,

working with your file will be the quickest result.

File > Export, and attach it here.

There are many ways to get it done, but not knowing what you have got  - keeps the guessing game going.

I hope I understand what you are looking for.  One of the problems you are facing was that your sketch was not complete.  I outlined this all in the Screencast.  One thing you really need to do is place your original model at the origin before starting any sketches. This really would help your work.  Model is attached.

Thank you for the file and the video, without either would be harder to explain.

I did not double check which holes,

I think you are striking trouble from the Auto Project - Preference settings, the sketches have multiple overlays, and come from sketching on the face of a plate.

You have a white dot here - Sketch Edit > Modify > Extend the line to close the hole.

Activate the new flange component, hide all other sketches

Window select the flange to extrude, and with shift key down you can weed out the 4 small holes.

I don't like the new Centre Line function that cuts the hole into four profiles, Construction lines don't do that.

Show the other sketch with correct hole, I used an Extrude cut as 2nd op for the big hole.

I tried my project you reposted and for the life of me it will not let me select an edge so I can create a flange. When I select sheet metal, then click on part face it turns blue, then i select create flange from the menu and it returns to the unselected state and the flange dialog show nothing. If I try to select an edge nothing happens, what am i doing wrong is it my version of Fusion 360 (the latest) ? How do i get it to select an edge so i can create my flanges?

It appears that I mixed up the terminology, and didn't check my process.

From the basis sketch, create Flange, and select the multiple sketch regions to create the first flat plate, I did that with the Extrude command, and not the Flange Command, my apologies.

then on that Flange edge it works.

Dave I tried to move the part to the center origin as you suggested. When I do the part you helped me with and the rest of the bracket break into two pieces. They are no longer connected. How do I fix?

The reason you cannot select an edge is because the beginning body is a NOT SHEET METAL BODY, it is just a solid body.  Convert it to sheet metal first and all you issues will be solved.  Notice the symbol for a sheet metal body is very different from a solid body.
