LOFT TO SECTION ANALYSIS TO SOLID TO 3D PRINT

I'm trying to convert sections of a loft to then a solid then export to 3d printer.

Basically trying to cut through the loft to see the design at a point, then take that section and make it a solid so I can export that section point to a .stl. Like taking a slice out of a point, extruding it 2-3mm and using that as a template to hand cut the project.

My intent is to add structure to that top shape and I want to extract that shape at one of 5 points along that lofted shape.

Maybe I'm trying the hard way to do this!!!

Thanks John. As always, it's easy for you, not so easy for me. I'm deaf so, some of this takes time to sink in. It's exactly what I want, now to disect it piece by piece.
