Linked design appearance issues

Looking at a few other posts, I didn't see this actually fully described or resolved.

High level:

I've modeled an object with a linked component inside it, and then used that object in a new, clean assembly. The body of the primary object has a physical material with appearance assigned (red anodized aluminum), but when that object appears in the new assembly, it has the default appearance, even though the properties say it has the correct properties assigned. Oddly, the red glass appearance stuck around properly, but the aluminum appearance on the USB housing sub-assembly reverted to defaults as well.

Could you upload some visual reference ? You were very clear with the description but it will be easier to try and reproduce the issue on my end (or at least try) - nothing beats seeing the problem 🙂

Well, that's fun. I *did* upload two images, and the board lost them.
