lines won't delete other problems

Having a few problems with fusion 360.  lines won't delete.  I select the line it turns blue.  I right click select delete.  But it does not delete.

I also had problems creating rectangles.  I want to create a rectangle starting from a point other than the center of the plane.  After I enter the proper sizes the resultant rectangle is partly to the left of my starting point.  What am I doing wrong.  I don't use fusion 360 a lot.  But in the past I was able to create rectangles where I wanted.

Also how can I delete part of a line?  I'm trying to draw my kitchen.  To align things I create a long line then put the cabinets based off of the line.  But between to cabinets I would like to delete the reference line.  Or is there a way to create multiple rectangles that align with each other.  Also is here a way to create a rectangle that is a specific distance from another rectangle.   like make the rectangle 18 inches above the counter.  or a line 4 inches above the floor for the toe kick.  I tried to move items but I would end up with 18.004 or 17.985.  Trying to move to exactly 18 inches was very difficult.

This should be enough for now

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It would really make it a lot easier to answer you questions if we had your model, it would be more relevant also.  Please attach what you have.  If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section of a forum post to attach it.

You have to be editing the sketch that owns those lines in order to delete them.  You cannot delete sketch objects from a sketch other than the active one.   So, make sure that you are editing the correct sketch.

Thanks for the reply.  It was the fact I had multiple sketches.  I thought that I had one.  Any ideas on the other questions?

You are referring to this?

"I want to create a rectangle starting from a point other than the center of the plane.  After I enter the proper sizes the resultant rectangle is partly to the left of my starting point.  What am I doing wrong.  I don't use fusion 360 a lot.  But in the past I was able to create rectangles where I wanted. "

It is hard to say without seeing a video of this experience.  Can you record it via screencast or some other video capture tool?  Offhand, though, it is worth pointing out that if all points of the rectangle are under constrained, you can not predict which point will move when a dimension is changed.  So, it might be possible that this is the cause, but a video will help clarify that.  Thanks.
