as above, a set of links making a fold down ramp. i have some fabrication knowledge so im fairly sure the maths should be ok. what could cause this model to refuse to move even 1 degree? if autodesk auto suggested answers for problems it would make learning a lot quicker and take some of the weight off the forums. thanks

fixed kind of by allowing more joint freedom for top bars despite them having 10deg range each before, then deleting the shorter hinged uprights joints then putting them back. it was solid before with 0 deg movement. sometimes screwing with something til it works actually fixes things 🙂 genuinely have no idea what the problem was.

In my experience designs like this where you have chains of parts jointed together, are always somewhat flakey.  The problem is that there are so many joints that are interrelated and have to move together, that it makes the solvers job of coming up with valid solutions far more difficult.  The computation time also varies a lot depending on the motion required which means you end up with jerky motion.  Sometimes you can find a sweet spot where the design works.  Other times it's just a disaster.
