Joined Components have moved--but are in correct positions when joints are edited

I have a large model with lots of joined components.  Many, recently joined components have moved since they were joined (rigid joints).

But, when I edit a joint, the component is in the correct position.  When I exit the edit menu, the component returns to the offset position.

Here's a screencast:

I cannot share the file publicly since it's a modification of design file I purchased.

I would have to get permission from the creator of the original file.

Is there other info I can provide?

Hi,

Please recreate this behaviour in a sample file.

best guess, without seeing the design, is that it is not Components that are out of position, but Bodies.  I see a few Body Moves in the timeline.  A Body Move will move the body within the component, so the joint is not being violated, but it can appear that this is the case.  It is also consistent with the edit behavior shown, since editing that joint will roll back before the Body Move, and put that body back into the orientation it had when the joint was created.

Yes,

I'd created a new instance of the component by copy/pasting from another.  Then, to make it easier to select the face and vertice I wanted to join, I moved it closer to where it need to be joined.

Apparently, I moved the body of the component, instead of the component.  Which, had the effect of moving the origin of the body inside each component instance.

When  I moved the body of the component instance I showed in the screen share, all the components appeared to move back to their correct, joined position.  Actually, I was probably just moving the body inside the component back to its original position.

Thanks!
