Is there a way to stop Fusion from moving the canvas focus point when starting an operation?

Of the top of my head I cannot remember all the times that Fusion changes the canvas position and orientation without my input. I can however report on the one that most often irritates me.
I am working on a component body and I want to sketch a new feature on the body. Using the image below, I want to create a sketch on the rectangular face in the center of the image.
I select "create sketch" and select the desired face. The sketch is started, but the canvas moves to 1) make the sketch plane "flat" to the canvas, and 2) move the origin to the center of the canvas.
I understand the purpose of 1. as it makes the 2D drawing flat and easy to work with.
I have a problem with 2. as I already have the canvas/body in the correct position for the sketch that I am creating. The arbitrary movement to the origin is never useful. This is true even if I am sketching on the origin planes. This unwanted movement of the canvas just causes extra work for me. Every time I start a sketch with an existing body in view, I have to reposition the canvas before I start drawing. In many cases the movement leaves me with a blank canvas because the body has moved out of view when the origin is centered.
Please either stop auto movement of the canvas, or at least provide a preference to turn it off.
The opposite problem also exists. Using the same body above, I start with the selected face planar with the canvas view. (I have moved the body partially out of view to illustrate better one of the issues.)
Now I select extrude.
In this case everything is on top of each other, which is not what I wanted to illustrate. However it is informative.
What I intended to show is that the drag arrow for the extrude is not visible because of the orientation of the body.
I need to rotate the body in order to see the drag handle.
So, in this instance the lack of canvas movement when starting the operation is not helpful.
A very slight rotation to cause the drag handle to appear would be helpful. Also locating the drag handle on the viewable part of the canvas would also be useful. The drag handle seems to appear at the location of the mouse click that selected the face, but the canvas may have been moved after the face was selected.
