Is there a way to export multiple sketches as multiple DXF files at once in Fusion 360?

Working on some very layered furniture designs and am looking for a way to make exporting the sketches as DXF files in a more efficient way.

Right now I have about 25 2D sketch layers and I need to do a "Right Click, Click, Select Field, Type, Hit Okay" 25 times and it would be great to do it once. Especially as I tweak things and need to re-export them all again.

Is there anyway to do this? I tried to select all of the sketches but when you right click the "Save As DXF" option is gone.

The key is I need separate files. Not one file. Not a nested file.  But separate files for each layer.

Maybe there is a plugin or another way to batch export these sketches at once?

Try DXFer from Github. Does what I needed.

Does not Export your sketches.

It exports a new file with the faces of the part/s you select.

Using the layers type, the export results in one file with x layers for x parts.

(One File for each material thickness)

Nesting is done in external software.

Might help....

Nice! I appreciate you linking that but it is just a few details off from what I am looking for.

It all depends on what you want to do with the final DXF/layer.  Fusion will export each sketch to a single DXF file but that file will contain a distinct layer for each DXF sketch.  The video will explain it better than words.

Hello John, thank you for taking the time to make that video. I did not know you could do it like that and is indeed very handy.

I tried this workflow with my model and it did not work however. I was able to export but upon opening the file in Fusion 360 or Adobe Illustrator it gave an error.

I think it is because there are so many other things in the original model that they get put in the exported DXF even though I only selected the sketches in question.

I feel like this is close. Perhaps I am doing it wrong but also there might need to be another step.

Maybe copy the sketches to a blank file and then export from there?

Could you share the model you are trying to work with?  If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 model follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save as a F3D or F3Z file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section, of a forum post, to attach it.

The process you describe is as it is, one file per sketch is a severe limitation, batch processing is a rare topic in this section.

I think you need to ask this in the API section of the forum, or ping Pat Rainsbury, (If he is still around) he wrote the DXFer Addin, on a request from a forum user.

Exporting the model, as dxf sends out a 3d dxf, and Illustrator may not happy with that.
