Is it possible to split a body by drawing a line around and edge in the mesh?

Another bizarre question that i'm not even sure is possible but value your input.

I'm trying to model quite a complex mould. I'm extruding and splitting bodies to give me an exact fit.

Now I want to cut away part of my extrusion but by using drawing around a fold in the mesh.

See the green line highlighted in the picture, i'd like to draw it completely around that fold, then kind of make a surface out of the completed ovaliod that i can use as a tool to split away the top part of the extrusion. I might be going about this the completely wrong way but hey, when you're stuck you gotta ask!

I went to early in the timeline to, surface Patch Sketch 2,

used it to cut body 6 (hidden), and you get body 9.

Might help....

I solved this in the end by creating a patch from the enclosed spline then using it as a tool to split the body.

God I love this product... So many ways to do things, it's like your making with your hands but by using your head.
