Insert Mesh bind together multiple mesh

Hi there!

I'v encountered an issue since the last update (7 july).

I've use to insert multiple mesh in the same .stl file. Usually, the multiple mesh were separate an can be move separatly with move/copy.  (Exemple, the mesh files contain 2 feet that when insert, could be move separatly).

The update now insert the mesh bind together and can not be move separatly.  I've found out that it can be separated in the mesh edit menu, but it add several step in our process slowing it down.

Can it be fix?!

Thanks!

Hi @Goysimon,

Thanks for posting your finding here, after a short investigation from my side, I am not able to reproduce the described behavior by using a multi-shell STL file, but it is reproducible with a multi-shell OBJ file. Could you please help to confirm that the file that you have used was a STL / OBJ file? If it is a STL file, do you mind if you could share this file with us? Thanks a lot.

Hello @derek.fanAAM4U !

I do have verified the file type for our 3D object.  You were right, they are not .Stl but .Obj File.
I tried to export the same file in .stl but I've got the same issue. You did find out where the issue come from.
The .STL and .OBJ file are list as one name in the bodies but not the .3MF files.test1.PNG

Actually, you did found a solution, I'll export my 3D object in .3mf rather than .obj for the moment.

I've been using Meshmixer for the 3D object. Here is an example of the file once export. (If you open it in Meshmixer, the two shell will be together, but Meshmixer always do that. But I've never experienced that behavior from Fusion360 before).

although, thanks for the tips, the .3mf files fix the issue for the moment!

Hey I'm a Pedorthist and I design the insoles/orthotics in Meshmixer. What program do you use?

Thanks @Goysimon for the confirmation, it is very helpful. I am not sure how did you separate them in mesh edit, but there is a "Separate" command under mesh -> modify, this command can help you easily to separate the shells into mesh bodies with one click in Fusion.

Hope this helps.

@derek.fanAAM4U

This is exactly the way I used! Exporting the file in .3mf is still faster than separated them in fusion, but this is a good solution for everyone who need it!

@hfcandrew Hi there!

I'm dong exactly the same as you. I only use Meshmixer to do the modification of the scan of the foot. Then I use fusion 360 to manufacture positive use to thermoform plastic for the insole. If you want more information, send me a private message, I'll be happy to talk about it!

Thanks Everyone!
