Injection Molding Simulation Results Broken

Hello, for about a month or so, every time I try and open Injection molding simulation results - the program crashes. I've tried simple and complex parts and loading results that previously worked and it crashes the program every time. I also uninstalled and reinstalled Fusion to see if that would help and it did not. Still crashes every time I try and view results. Is this a known bug? If so, when will this be fixed?

I am sorry you are having this issue. I found your crash reports and I am logging a defect so an engineer can look into it. The code appears to be reacting to the workspace switch and hitting some invalid state information. You could try changing your UI, perhaps closing the learning panel if that is open, or any other change that could 'nudge' things along a slightly different path. We will try to reproduce the issue and advise your further.

Thank you for looking into this! I work for an injection molder and this functionality is important to us. I look forward to seeing what you all conclude. In the meantime, I'll try what I can do to get it to work. So far, I've gone through and made sure GPU drivers are updated and have tried a few different settings in the Nvidia control panel to see if I can get anything to work. I'll try Fusion UI-specific things next.

Thanks again, Luke

Hi Luke, I was able to reproduce your bug. Try changing your Environment display setting, you may have it set to River Rubicon which I think was added at some point this year and we are missing some logic that depends on this value.

I will get a fix going for this but it probably won't land in a Fusion update until January.

Sorry again for this issue and the inconvenience it has caused...

Rob,

You are  correct about River Rubicon being my recent favorite. Switching to photo booth does seem to do the trick. Amazing. The timing does check out. Thanks so much for digging into this and finding a solution so rapidly. Really appreciate it!

Hello, sorry you are having this issue. Does your email contain xx@fastpart.xx? I see one crash report from earlier today and this looks like the exact same issue. Are you certain the environment change was persisted? If the problem is still happening to you, cause it again and when you send the crash report, you will get a report Id which you can provide in your reply and I can look up the crash to see if it is still the same problem.

Hi,

It started to work for me. Changing the visual style didn't work. Only thing which worked is making the new account (trial). Simulation worked on new account and results were not broken. Then I made the same simulation on old account and it is working. I don't know what's going on.

hi! I'm a student so I'm using the educational version of the software. I have this problem in injection molding simulation too and I don't know how to solve it. I don't find the enviornment you suggest to change

Sorry you are having this problem. I assume you mean that when you try to display the results for an Injection molding solve Fusion crashes? Did you send a crash error report, and if so, what is the email address associated with your account? I can look up your CER report and then determine why the crash occurred.

You can also just cause the crash again and send me the report number, that may be better than sharing your email on the forum.

The crash is in ig8icd64.dll which is the Intel HD graphics driver. That does not prove it is a driver bug, but it would be a good idea to update the graphics drivers on the machine if they have not been updated in some time. I will also look into other potential solutions and someone will reply with the details. Also, if you have multiple monitors you can try this with only 1 monitor connected to see if that helps. Finally, if you have a display adapter in addition to on-board graphics, you could look into why the on-board graphics are being used instead of the adapter. If your machine is a laptop then there probably isn't a secondary graphics adapter.

First of all ,thank you very much for the help.
The machine I’m using is a simple laptop. So I have to install Intel HD graphics driver, correct?

The crash is occurring in the Intel HD driver, so it is already installed. I recommend that you go to the laptop manufacturer's website, support page and update your drivers. They usually have some kind of 'auto detect' feature which will identify your machine and recommend drivers to update. Only update your display driver if they state that an update is available.

I was able to determine the model of your laptop from the diagnostic information and it is an HP 15-bs1xx. I believe the CPU family is 'Broadwell' and if you go to this page:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/hp-15-bs100-laptop-pc/16851388

and click "detect my software and drivers' it should hopefully give you a link to install the updated display driver.

If you already did this and it says you driver is up to date, then unfortunately I am not sure what else can be done.

I have asked some other team members whether there are any settings or workarounds in Fusion to prevent the Intel driver from crashing and I will post a reply if they have some suggestions.
