In the XZ plane, below the xy plane the z axis is positive.

Hi there,

               When creating a sketch using the origin plane  I've noticed in the XZ plane, below the xy plane, the z axis is positive. Is this normal?

Any help would be much appreciated.

You need to explain what you doing or what to achieve.  In the video you can clearly see that specified distances below the X-Y plane are negative in value.  Please clarify what you are looking at with a video.

"Is this normal?" short answer:  yes.  In "Z up" orientation, the XZ plane is "funny".  For more explanation, see this thread:  why-is-my-sketch-text-appearing-upside-down

Hi Jhackney1972. Thanks for the demo. I'll try and explain what I'm confused by. The Z axis's number-line-digits are negative above the X/Y plane. I'm wondering if the appearance of the Z axis's number-line-digits appear negative above the X/Y plane is the Fusion 360 default. 

Also, (for a sketch created on the ZY plane) to move the sketch geometry up a negative value is required. I hope that helps. 

Seth.Madore I now see your solution was correct. Changing the default model orientation does fix this issue.
