Importing manufacturer part

So I really like Fusion 360 when I am drawing, but sometimes I get stuck on the stupidest stuff, and the solution is not apparent to me at least.  So all I wanted to do is import some pipe Flanges and Valves so I didn't have to draw them myself (I could have drawn them all with the time wasted on this).

I select Insert->Manufacturer Part and it opens a browser window on partscommunity.com.   I find the part I want, no problem there.   I select the options I want, and the orange box that says "To Autodesk Fusion 360" appears.  It has a little gear like I can change settings but no matter where I click on it, it pauses for a second, then tells me I have one less download available today.    That's it, nothing in Fusion, nothing in download directory.  I don't know where it went.  I don't see any way to change the options of what it does.....

What am I missing?  I'm sure it something simple if you know.

Thanks in advance,

Andy

My preference is simply to download a STEP or IGES or other rather than directly.

There are three things to pay attention to during the process of inserting a Manufacturer's component into your model.  The first is that you must log in to the Parts Community site.  This means you have to have already set up a free account.  When you log in you must use the Parts Community login, not your Autodesk Fusion 360 login.  The second thing is you must the "To Autodesk Fusion 360" icon "after" you have logged into the site.  The last thing is to acknowledge the translator application that pops up that imports the component into Fusion 360.  The Screencast will show the process.

Thank you very much for the nice video.  It seems like I am doing everything the same as you are but its still not working as I expect.  I wasn't sure about the Nlauncher app to open the link as I have several other choices, but when I choose it I get the little circling ring in Fusion 360 then it just goes away and I am don't have anything to insert.  What is your default browser?  I have mine set to Firefox, but I have noticed more and more things not working with it as they should.  I don't know what else to try.

CadWhisperer, it is OK if you don't know the answer to the question -- just don't reply.  I haven't been on this forum for nearly 2 years and yet here you still are replying to specific questions with your opinions that don't answer the question.   I have watched you hijack a ridiculous number of threads on this forum in your attempts to advertise your YouTube channel.  Its just spam and contributes very little to the knowledge base.   Your opinion of how to do this may or may not be right, but I wanted to learn how to use this feature and see for myself.

Please don't engage if you can't answer the question.

@andy

Are you using free personal license or are you using paid commercial license of Fusion 360?

Can you create a Screencast Recording showing your steps?

My default browser is Microsoft Edge but it works also with Firefox.  The Nlauncher application, is installed with Fusion 360, to serve as the intermediate application between the manufacturer website and the Fusion 360 application.  My only other suggestion is for you to clear the cache in Firefox and try again.  Have your tried to download a component using one of the other manufacturer links under the Insert menu?  Do you get the same result?

Thank you John.   Your instructions were entirely correct.  I was close except knowing which application to allow to open the link.   There was also something going on even after I followed your instructions, so I changed my default browser to Chrome (it was very possibly the cache in Firefox, but I have about 20 tabs open I don't want to close), restarted Fusion 360 and it worked just as you said.  Thank you for your help.  I will mark your post as the accepted solution.

CadWhimperer, I have asked you many times not to reply to my posts, including this one.  I have seen many others do the same.  Yet you insist on hijacking their threads and wasting their time.   I have never seen  you provide any useful help.  Someone asks how to draw a circle and you post that you don't use them, you use squares ......  Then you want people to make videos and such but still don't provide any actual help.  Others step in and do that.  What possible difference does the license make, and what would a video of me doing the same thing as John showed except the part not appearing in Fusion show?  Its obvious you really don't know a whole lot and are just trying to get people to watch your videos (I absolutely would skip over them after seeing what you do on this and other forums.)

Thankfully there are people like John who actually know what they are doing and took the time to answer the question asked.  I have reported you to the Moderator (again).  I doubt it will do much good, but maybe if enough people get tired of your crap they will kick you off here.

As my grandfather used to say, "better to remain silent and have people think your are stupid than open your mouth and remove all doubt"

Please don't EVER reply to any of my posts for ANY reason.
