Hello,

I've been watching how to use F360 to create an animated exploded view .  Over a long period of time I have drawn several components and saved them in different files in F360. I would like to use these files to create one animated exploded view file.  How do I move/import these files I've created in F360 into one project file, save it, then create the exploded view file? I build one of a kind snare drums and cnc custom parts which are created in F360.

Thank you for your input, knowledge

Hi,

Glad to help.

The process you are describing is called, in general terms "assembly". The process of assembling components that make up a drum kit, in your case. Much like assembly in physical reality, to get a drum kit, you must assemble it.

So, let's get this part out of the way. Here are some learning materials to help you:

Start with this page from the Help documentation for "assemblies": Link

If you wish to read more, there's plenty more there but it gets pretty deep compared to your task at hand.

Then read this about Joints. Joints are the tools that provide position and motion (or lack thereof) for your parts. Link

And finally, the workflow you'll need to get all the components into one place. The top part of this page describes the steps to bring different design files together using "insert". Link

Here is a tutorial that closely resembles the workflow you'll be using. Link

And if a webinar approach is what you like best, here's a class from Autodesk University:

Joints in Fusion 360: A Guide to Assembly Position and Motion

Exploded views are made using the Animation workspace. Link

And then calling them up in drawings. This tutorial explains it pretty well, just for information. You can try the whole drawings tutorials if you find them interesting. Link
