Import .STEP from McMaster into existing fusion project/file not possible on my machine

Hello all.

I am unsure how to proceed. Two errors are preventing me from doing something that should be fairly straightforward.

I am trying to import screws from McMaster as components into a project.

However, the download button in the dialog page does not download and import the part. Nothing happens. I have another machine I work on that it functions fine there but that is an office machine with infrequent access.

No big deal, I figured I can download it manually and then import the STEP. The way to do that seems to be under the "import" menu. From there I can open the screw as its own file or I should be able to add it to my working file under the data panel.

Once again there is a "however". The data panel pop-out is a completely black box. Forum threads indicate that this is a semi-known issue and there seems to be a myriad possible reasons. I do not use the cloud storage and use a 3rd party file syncing utility so I just honestly never noticed this was happening.

Given this, how can I add a screw into a project? Is there a way to drag and drop the file or open the body or component in one tap and just paste it over into another tab? I feel like that must be a feature, but I cannot find a way to do it.

Please advise.

If you enable AnyCAD you can insert STP files from the data panel without conversion first. Just upload the STP file to a project in your hub using Chrome then you can insert into your design. You might want to create a project just for stuff you'll reuse.
