Import a Step File and save as a single part

Can anybody help?

I have imported a step file of a pump unit into Fusion 360 and saved it OK.

I have created, again in Fusion 360 an assembly and inserted the file.

When I try to join the part to another, I cannot get it to move the entire pump unit in one go, only the part of the pump unit that I have chosen to join to another part.

How can I join the entire pump unit in one go to another???

Is there a way of saving the step file (containing many separate parts) into a single part so that I can move it in one go?

Many thanks in advance!

if your only goal is to get it to all move together, use Rigid Group, and select the entire pump assembly.  This will not, however, produce a "part", but instead a rigid assembly.  Producing a single "part" (does this mean a single Body to you?) is more complex, and requires the use of the Combine command, and may not actually result in a single body, if the pump has tolerances built into it.
