Images in canvas disappear randomly

Images in canvas disappear randomly

I have just started having this issue. I have several  files with canvases that I have been working on for a few years. I have not deleted any files or changed them. I am on a MacBook Pro, Big Sur 11.4

I open a file one day and the images are present. Closed the file, quit Fusion because it has a bad habit of leaving the Object browser on the wrong screen when I go from multi screen to a single screen.

I have a file that in the file browser you can see the canvas is present. When I open the file the canvas is gone blank.

It doesn't happen with every file. I am seeing it happen with files that have worked as expected for a few years.

This canvas works:

This canvas doesn't:

You can see the canvas image in the preview:

But it is gone when I open the file:

Where does Fusion 360 link these files from. I have checked the Application Support in the Library directory but can not find the directory in the dialog box. This is a bit frustrating. Any ideas?

Cheers,

Phil

Could you possibly share one of the broken designs? It would help to look at the data directly.

This seems related to older designs, so it's likely these are not loaded in recent cache memory locally on your machine, is that true?

Well I would suspect that but the design worked fine one day and the canvases were gone the next.

I’ll load the one design as soon as I get back home.

Thank you

Okay, reading your description again it would appear that older files (the dates in your image show July of some other year), are opening cleanly and as expected. Only after closing them and then opening them again do you see the problem.

This indicates the file is saved locally in your cache (because you opened it) and the images are not being displayed after trying to open it a second time. If you could share a link to one of these designs I'll be happy to try to reproduce it.

After you try to reproduce the effect again, please gather your logs. It may show something about your local machine that is somehow blocking the images.

Here is one of the files in question.

Thank you for your time and effort.

Thanks.

When opening the design you provide I get the same result. I cannot reproduce this by opening older designs of my own that have canvases. At this time I have to turn over this case to development for assessment. Thanks for providing the file.

Hi,

Thanks for posting. There is a related issue we fixed when this post was first made, that may have regressed.

The problem originally was that if you suppressed a canvas, then closed and opened the file, then unsuppressed the canvas, it would not be visible.

This was fixed, but is somehow happening again today. I've asked the developers to look at it again.

Can you confirm that you are suppressing the canvases, then closing and opening the file again? If not, can you share a design with me that has this problem?

I finally figured out what was happening. My Mac will push the files to iCloud leaving only the thumbnail. So now I push the images to the Autodesk cloud space and that seem to have cleared up the issue.

I appreciate your assistance though.

cheers,

Phil
