Hello,

Is there a way to import body/plane intersections (like sketch lines) that are in the .igs format? I have a cross section profiles I would like to create revolves for to reverse engineer them from the 3D scans ,but can not get the igs files to import. The file is just blank when imported.

I have viewed them in other software fine and the data is there. I have attached a .stp and the igs that is one of the problems.

Thanks for the help.

Fusion only imports surface or solid data from any source other than DXF.  So, if there are loose edges in your IGS file, that data will not come into Fusion

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for the quick response. Is this a "Feature" of fusion360, or a bug? Do you know of any workarounds as this is the only format the software exports the captured features as.

Cheers!

neither, really.  The limitation to only surface and solid data is implemented as intended, but I would not call it a "feature".  It's just the current limitation of the import process.  There isn't any workaround that I am aware of today, especially if the data is only available in IGES.

Can you Attach your IGES or STEP file here (you might need to zip to Attach)?

Hello Everyone,

Well, time to revisit this lack of feature. I had found a work around utilizing Inventor LT, however now that is is gone I need fusion to import IGES as inventor or freecad can. I have a attached a example file if needed. Any help is greatly appreciated.
