IAM and IPT import as editable 3d modell not possible anymore

Hi all,

my Inventor 2017 Student version will expire in a view days. I worked with Fusion 360 in the past just for some try outs. In the past, I could upload and edit my ipt and iam files. Based on post in this forum it should be still possible.

Unfortunately with the latest version of Fusion 360 (non commerical use), I can only upload the IPT/IAM files, but not open or edit them. The only option I get at the moment is to view the model in the autodesk browser overiew (myhub).

I would be very thankful for any advise how to upload and convert IAM and IPT files to Fusion 360 to have them available as editable 3d version.

Unfortunately I have many Inventor Projects and now a big fear to lose all the data or make them unsable.

Thanks a lot and best regards

Hi @sebastian.steer

This is expected behavior for a personal license. To convert your files to be editable in Fusion, you'll need to export them as .STEP files or similar. You can see the list of file types allowed for personal use in this article here.

Cheers,

Karina

Same issue here, inventor student licence expires in 10 days and I like to continue working in a project that has multiple assemblies and parts. Do I have an option? For example can I start a fusion free trial, import this design and convert it to fusion 360 format, and downgrade free trial to personal edition and continue work in the project with the personal edition?
