I'm not able to save the drawing template from custom design

When I create a new Drawing Template (File>New Drawing Template) "From Scratch" and save it, everything works normally. But, when I create a new Drawing Template based on an existing drawing and save it, the upload gets stuck. The data panel thumbnail displays the spinning blue circle over it and the file is not able to be opened.

I tried to clear the upload cue and it didn't work for me.

It doesn't work on mac and on windows too.

Hello @popowski.jakub

Are you still facing this issue? I was not able to reproduce the issue. Can you please share the file which you are using to create a template from?

Thank you,

Rohit Bapat

I'm experiencing the same issue at the moment - with a drawing containing a custom title block. What is even more confusing I get an upload freeze every time I try to use this file.

  • When I create a drawing template based on an original file I'm unable to save it. Upload freezes.
  • When I duplicate this drawing file I'm unable to save any changes to it's copy. Upload freezes.
  • I'm unable to save this file using "save as" or "save as template". Upload freezes.

Looked like the drawing I created was somehow corrupted, and this corruption was inherited further to it's copies or templates based on it. What I finally found out is that removing non-english characters (eg. ó,ł,ń...) from title block seemed to solve the problem. Looks like system is not able to handle these characters correctly and starts to behave in an upredictable way. @popowski.jakub - Can you confirm my suspicions?

@rohit.bapat- Is it possible to register a bug ticket for that?

Hi,

last try:

1. create drawing from design
2. edit title block
3. save drawing "Drawing 1" in project folder
4. file > new drawing template > select "Drawing 1

last drawings.png
5. save > select folder > "MyTemplates" > "My New"> ok
6. select new drawing from Design > "My New" > ok

Hi.

Thanks for help, but it didn't help either. I've spend the whole morning with that. But i think I found a suprising solution. The issue seemed to be caused by non-english characters in the title block! The title block was localized for my client and some accented characters like "ł, ń, ó" were used there. After i removed them I was able to save the file normally, generate the template etc.

Suprisigly the origial file with these characters seems to be working normally. But any copy of it or anything I derive from it (such as template) gets corrupted and can not be saved to cloud. I tried to make a copy of that drawing and change something there, and I got the same problem like with templates.

Looks like an another sneaky bug.

I have also had this 2 times with the ü.
Since then I do without special charakters both with installations and with other self-assigned names.

Unfortunately, the problem appears in new versions (also WIN) from time to time.

I also try to use english names everywhere I can, but technical drawings are quite an excepion from that. Guys at the local machine shop are not very happy when they receive drawings in foregin language. 😀

Fusion developers just got a tasty bug right on a plate. I wonder if they make use of it anytime soon.

So, theproblem was all about the foreign symbols in the title block, right? Did I getit correctly? I’ve never faced this issue before but now I’m curious what to doif that’ll happen to me one day. I mostly work with missing posters on thisplatform and a lot of error messages appear. Is that a common issue? They havenever interrupted my work and I have never paid a lot of attention to them. However, now I’m a bit frustrated as loosing all my work is not an option. Canit be a network connectivity issue?
