Trying to program a part that I’ve done before, except for it being a scaled up version but, I want to create a spiral tool path to face the part and it’s ignoring my inputs.
these parts are cast bronze and I’m only taken off a small amount compared to if it was just a block or cylinder of solid metal so, when setting up, in setup, I set stock to solid and select the body.
now I select 3D spiral and make my geometry selection.
I then go to the passes tab and do my z axial offset to start clear of excess stock. I then enter my inner and outer limit and select ok.
No matter what value is entered the tool path is the same. I do understand why that is bc of the stock being setup as model solid and shows no stock say at the smallest and largest offset I’ve entered but I did it before the update and it worked.
in the geometry tab it doesn’t matter how much of positive offset I enter, the tool path does not change. So I tried to go negative and took path wouldn’t generate, understandably.
I need to be able to start and end tool paths well outside the selected stock to account for the pour castings bc of the uncalled-for dimensional deviations.
I wish there was something like the tangential extension for start and end like 2d contour. I don’t think That would be hard to do and would be extremely useful.
hopefully Ive explained that well enough?
When I get home to my laptop I will try to load the model.
If you think you can offer any help I’d appreciate it. Thanks
