How to repeat a feature on different faces?

I have a simple cube like this

Now I want to a) apply a cut and b) create a new face in the same shape  to each of the sides (not top/bottom)

Sketch for the cutout 

Step 1 - cutout

Step 2 - extrude body

What would be the proper way to do this for each of the fours dies without sketching/copy-pasting it multiple times?

Easiest way is a circular pattern. Box need to be dead square and you need an axis through the centre.
