How to recover files after a hard drive wipe?

I recently reinstalled Windows 10 on a dual-drive PC. One drive is for the OS and software, the other is for data. Not thinking, I assumed Windows would reinstall in the same drive as the OS, and didn't disconnect my data drive.

I overwrote everything on my hard drive, and it's non-recoverable (believe me, I've tried). I was under the impression Fusion stored my projects in the cloud. Is there any way to get back the two years' worth of work I've done?

Any help at all is appreciated.

Hi,

That is the case.
Go to the Datapanel and try it via Team or Single user. You may need to transfer data.

@buck_hedges Are you not setting the data now, when you log in to Fusion?

Thank you for the quick response!

When I open the data panel, the titles of my files still show, but clicking
them does nothing. The files are still in the cloud. I did manage to find
them, but I'm not sure how to get Fusion to see them.

@buck_hedges Are the file previews showing in the data panel?  If you right click on a file and choose open , what happens. Do you see any errors? There is a refresh button in the data panel, if you hit that and once complete does the experience change?

if none of this works, after you have tried all this can you go to help - support and diagnostic- diagnostic log files and attach the generated zip file here?

also login to accounts.autodesk360.com and your files should show. Select one of the file and choose , open in desktop. Has that trigged Fusion 360 to open that design?

I really appreciate you helping me on a weekend!

No, no file previews show. When I click on them nothing happens. I tried
the Refresh button. Nothing when I click it. I'm attaching the diagnostic
log file. I think Murphy's Law of Computing will come into play:

"The more annoying and time-consuming it is to find the solution to a
problem, the simpler the solution is."
I attached a copy of the diagnostic log.

@buck_hedges Thanks for the logs and please try the accounts.autodesk360.com workflow as well.

I will be a little more slower to look at the logs and reply back but I should be able to do it later in my day.

Thank you.

I really appreciate it. I forgot to mention, I did try to open the files
from my Autodesk360.com account with the "Opne on Desktop" link. It told me
Fusion was not installed, even though I had Fusion running at the time. I
downloaded the installer and ran that, and the installer then told me there
were too many instances of Fusion running. So it seems like Fusion is
installed, the files are in my account, but the two aren't seeing each
other for some reason.

Thank you. I appreciate your help.

The Data Panel only allows me single-user storage. I can find my files in
Autodesk360.com, but when I try the "open in desktop" it tells me Fusion is
not installed. If I download and run the installer, it tells me there are
too many instances of Fusion installed.

It's like the Cloud Storage and the application aren't seeing each other.

@buck_hedges Sorry about the delay in replying. Couple of things I want to try out.

1. I don't see logs attached to the post. So if you can attach them that would help

2. Can you invite raj.kumar.ilanchelian@autodesk.com to your project? I want to try to open it on my end and see if I can open and if not why not. This should help in diagnostics too.

At this time, if you are. see the files they are certainly there and it is just the question of why are they not opening for you.

Lastly about the statement "it tells me there are
too many instances of Fusion installed." - Can you launch your task manager and see if there are multiple sessions for Fusion running that have not been ended?

Hi Raj,

I'm sorry I haven't gotten back to you sooner. I've been backed up at work. I'm more than happy to invite you to one of my projects.  Wen I looked at Fusion earlier this week, it indicated Fusion wasn't connected to the Internet. This morning, all the previews showed up in the Data Panel, and I was able to open files.

I'd like to invite you to a project, but I'm not sure how. Would you be willing to walk me through the steps?

Thank you again for your help!

@buck_hedges Glad that you are online again and able to find and open your files. If there are no other issued then I don't need to be in your projects.

Here is how you can invite someone to your projects in the future:

Be in your project - . data panel -> Go into People -> and enter email ID to invite. It is that simple
