How to manually set the weight of a component

How can I manually set the weight of a component? I have a LiPo battery I modeled for an assembly as there was no CAD file available, but they provided the dimensions and weight. I have to keep everything in this assembly under a certain weight, so it's important I get it correct, but I don't see any options available to do so, and a google search didn't return anything useful.

There is no method to do this directly.  What you can do is get the Volume of your component from the Browser, then using a little math, create a fake material with the density needed to create the weight you need.  In the attached screen captures I show how I created a fake material that gives the model a weight of 32 ounces (2 lbs.).

Unfortunately this isn't a thing yet in Fusion 360. We've asked for this years ago. Granted not many of the hobby users that roam these forums nowadays would use that feature but in some of the place I've worked (BMW for example) this was common practice, particularly for plastic injection molded parts.

We started wit calculated weight and once we were in production, models/drawings were always updated with real measured weights.

I've reposted a link to this thread on the Fusion 360 Slack channel.

Thanks, it's good to know there is a workaround at least

This is also common when using imported vendors assembly (for example Honda small engine) in your assembly. Not going to have vendor’s entire IP, nor want all that detail in design. Just form factor and weight.
BTW - this is done in Autodesk Inventor Professional by iProperties override.
