How to make a coil turn straight

Hey everyone,

I'm very new to Fusion 360 and I wanted to create a prototype for a curly straw. I want to use the coil tool but I can't make it straight after to form the ends of the straw since I only want the coil in the middle. I've attached a photo (with crudely drawn green lines) to indicate what I'm trying to do.

I'd appreciate any advice!

Thanks.

You need a complete Centre Line,

Sweep a line for the coil curve, (Sketch 2 and 3)

Make a 3d sketch (4), Project > Include 3d Geometry and select the coil curve, and the straight end sections a bit removed on the Origin Axis each side, and join the two sections with tangent Spline (black in the pic)

Put a Hollow Pipe on the sketch.

Thanks for reaching out!

Do you mind explaining what you mean by "sweep a line for the coil curve" and how I would do that? Sorry I'm not very familiar with the tool and the internet doesn't seem to be giving me exactly what I want.

Open my file, turn on all Eyeballs in all sections, start at the beginning of the timeline, and step one by one.  When you get to the Orange sweep icon, use Edit Feature, to see the settings used.

Might help….
