How to loft a 3d Surface to create a convex eye

I'm stuck. I can't work out why I can't get this loft to work.

I've attached the model. Please don't judge, I know i've taken a long, long, path to get here and i've learned so much. If I can understand this last step I'll do it clean from scratch.

Thanks in advance.

You are showing only one Profile selection, Loft requires at least two.  Model is attached.

Can you provide a photo or hand sketch (paper & pencil) of how you imagine for the end result to lok. like ?

I personally would not use any of the splines in your design for lofting. I doubt there is a need for 5-degree control point splines.

Sure. You'll recognise where it's from 🙂

I'm trying to model a mold for the lense, the one on the left (of the pic), I figure I can mirror it for the right.

Can you share the original mesh model that you imported into Fusion 360. ?

This looks to me like a case for T-Spline modeling and I'd "do some stuff" to it in Blender before taking it into Fusion 360.

Hi. See attached. I'm new to all of this. Absolutely loving it but wish I had the know how to do what's in my head. I've attached the mesh of the mask. What i'm trying to do is make a mould for an eye piece that had domes out with a lip that will glue to the back edge of the socket. I'm vac forming these pieces.

So presumably Blender is better for certain applications? I thought I was nearly there. Only problem is, my lofts are picking up odd distortions that I can't pin down.

Thanks for sharing!

Let me experiment with this for a little while. This model was originally modeled as a Sub-D model in a software such as Maya, Blender, MoDo etc. We can use tat to our advantage...

So now that we've got the right eye socket in Fusion 360 as a T-Spline we can proceed however we ant, either with lofting, or better with T-Spline modeling:

This is great. Thanks.

One thing to note that you need some of the rear profile of the mask in order to leave a fitted lip for the formed eyepiece to glue onto.

now to google sub-d....

I simplified this a little more an now also have the eye with a flange for the reason you described 😉

I really need to make a tutorial that describes the rather obscure workflow to regain the eye socket from the mesh file, which I've never seen anywhere.

This is incredibly kind of you to help me here. I appreciate any tips you can pass on as I'm planning to persue this type of modelling more and more. Thanks

So sorry to respond after so long. This is great. Is there any way you could give me even a brief synopsis of how you did this so I can attempt it myself, I need to be able to do this stuff. I'd also like to put a bit more convex curvature on the lens if possible.

Also, how can I take that solid eye, and extrude it up to create a 3d mould that will fit a vacuum former. The model looks like it's a mesh, do I convert it to a T-Spline first?

Thanks again.
