How to import an ipt (Inventor) file ?

Dear forum members,

I downloaded a component from a manufacturer's website in .ipt format from inventor 2020 and would like to use it in a project, imagining that since Inventor and Fusion 360 are both from the same company that would be straith forward.

I found a few explanations online that don't work. The most recommended method seems to be to put the component into your data panel and use it from there. I managed indeed to get the component in my data panel, but not more than that. E.g. when i double-click on it, that opens a webpage where I can see my component.

I can try other formats, but I would like to understand what is going on. I tried an older Inventor .ipt format, but that made no difference.

Aha. Thank you for the information.

That is then another thing that should be added in the help about importing stuff.
